Membership

The clerk must maintain a register of membership which identifies the category of membership, date of appointment, term of office and the date the membership is due to expire

The clerk must maintain a record of governors' attendance at meetings and the times of arrival and departure of each governor. The register can help the clerk to ensure the meeting remains quorate and that voting is carried out properly.

This record can be examined to show the level of attendance. For example, if a governor was up for reappointment, you would need to know about their commitment to attending meetings in the past. If a governor fails to attend meetings for six consecutive months, this becomes grounds for dismissal from office and the register provides the evidence necessary to pursue that course of action.
